Checking Academic Texts for Plagiarism: Online Blitz

On May 30, 2023, an event  “Checking Academic Texts for Plagiarism: Online Blitz” took place, where students and researchers from the KPI (Kyiv Polytechnic Institute) detailed their knowledge on checking academic texts for signs of plagiarism. The following topics were discussed:

• Why academic texts are checked;

• Who and how checks academic texts;

• Which academic texts are checked at KPI;

• At what stage check is condacted;

• Indicators of originality and borrowing;

• How many quotations are allowed;

• Acceptable percentage of plagiarism;

• Who makes a decision on the presence of plagiarism;

• What happens after the check;

• Whom to contact if you disagree with the expert conclusion.
